Ronda Rousey will make her highly anticipated return to MMA when she fights Gina Carano May 16 at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, Calif.
The two women might need WD-40 to get the rust off before then.
Rousey, 39, will be fighting for the first time since 2016. Carano, 43, will be fighting for the first time since 2009.
Rousey said she wants to rewrite the final chapter of her career, which ended in ugly fashion.
In her second-to-last fight, Rousey suffered her first career loss when Holly Holm knocked her out with a head kick. In Rousey’s final fight, Amanda Nunes sent her into retirement with a devastating first-round TKO.
Carano could use a rewrite, too. In her last fight before retiring, she suffered a first-round loss to Cris Cyborg.

If the Rousey-Carano fight is as entertaining as their recent press conference, Netflix should be in good shape. Rousey ripped the UFC for underpaying its fighters and derided Cyborg as a “roided-up (expletive).”

In what’s being billed as a triple-headliner, MMA fan-favorite Nate Diaz will fight Mike Perry in a five-round welterweight fight and former UFC heavyweight champion Philipe Lins in a five-round heavyweight fight.
Diaz, 40, will be stepping in the cage for his first MMA fight since 2022, when he beat Tony Ferguson by submission in his last UFC fight. Perry, 34, is taking on his first MMA bout since 2021.
Ngannou, 39, will be climbing into the cage for the first time since October 2024, when he demolished Renan Ferreira with a first-round knockout at the PFL Super Fights: Battle of the Giants.
More fights will be added to the cards, according to Most Valuable Promotions, which is promoting the event.
