Aston Martin Valhalla Spider: a Roofless HypercarAston Martin

Prior to the 2020s, Aston Martin had never even built a road-going mid-engined car. That changed with the Valkyrie, a car so extreme that it stretched the limits of what someone would ever reasonably want to put on the road. Aston Martin eventually opted to build a roofless variant of that car—so it should be no surprise that the substantially more civilized Valhalla is following with a Spider of its own.

Fortunately for fans of the base car, the Valhalla Spider looks every bit like Aston Martin’s second hypercar, just with the roof removed. Performance figures are the same, too; that means the Valhalla Spider still produces 1064 horsepower and 811 pound-feet of torque from its hybrid setup, including 817 hp from the 4.0-liter flat-plane crank, twin-turbocharged V-8 alone.

Aston Martin says that the Valhalla gets a standard removable and stowable fabric roof in other markets, but U.S. buyers will get a hard carbon fiber piece instead. With that installed, the car can hit an electronically-limited top speed of 217 miles per hour, same as the coupe. More impressive is that the Valhalla Spider can hit the same number with the top off, making it the fastest open-topped Aston Martin to date. A stowable clip-on wind deflector helps with air flow over the open cabin at those speeds, while active aerodynamic systems adjust to either orientation to provide consistent balance with or without the roof installed.

Spider production is expected to make up around one out of every four Valhallas, making the open-topped car more rare than the hard-top model that began reaching customers late last year. The car will make its public debut at the Wynn Concours in Las Vegas this weekend, and customers will receive their cars starting in Q3 of 2027.
