It’s been almost two months since Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce tied the knot in an NYC wedding on July 3. Now that the pop star has returned to the spotlight, she is sharing how she deals with life when things get “unmanageably big.”

In an interview with the Grammys, Swift reflected on her career and revealed how she never let public perception slow her down. The pop star also reflected on her evolution as a person and a musician, and whether that change resonated with her audience.

Taylor Swift Reveals Her ‘Coping Mechanism’ After Wedding

After her July 3 nuptials with Travis Kelce and their dreamy honeymoon, Taylor Swift is back in business, and this time she sat down for an interview with the Grammys for the Icon Sessions series.

In the YouTube video, which was released recently, the 14-time Grammy winner opened up about her process of creating music and her coping mechanism when things get “unmanageably big.”

Swift began by stating, “I go through several processes and coping mechanisms that I’ve gone through over the years, and one of them is saying, ‘You chose this. You chose this every day.’”

She added that she keeps reminding herself, “‘You could have opted out of this any day before it got unmanageably big.’ And I decided not to because I love it that much.”

For the pop star, “that’s just where it begins and where it ends. Everything that comes with this ultimately is worth it as long as I get to still make music.”

Later in the conversation, Swift mentioned that while she considers the process of making music to be about “emotional truths,” she also knows that it may or may not resonate with her audience.

However, the singer said, “I realized that I’m making music because I’m playing for the fans. I’m putting this out for people who care about it and who look to music as a way to cope with their life in the way that I did.”

“I think that if you can actually go through all those checkpoints and realize that putting out music you’ve made that you love so much is not the path to universal validation, if you’re still doing it, then you love it for the right reasons,” she concluded.

Swift Says ‘I Love My Country Roots More and More’

After reflecting on her creative process of creating music, Taylor Swift looked back at the inception of her career in Nashville. Reflecting on her “country roots,” the pop star said she wanted to honor her roots with her music.

“I love my country roots more and more the further along this path I get and I want to honour them more and more. I feel more tied to them, more loyal to them … The people that shaped who I am as an artist and as a writer, that all happened in Nashville,” Swift said.

She went on to name the musicians who influenced her career and how she wanted to follow the same path, before carving her own. “I had heard that Faith Hill got discovered at the Bluebird Cafe. I started learning about the Bluebird Cafe, made it a personal life goal to get to perform there.”
