‘Should Be Flipping Burgers, Holy Garbage’ — CFB World Blasts TCU QB Jaden Craig Amid Disappointing Showing vs. UNC

Jaden Craig arrived at TCU with Harvard records, NFL Draft intrigue, and a chance to prove an Ivy League star could handle Power Four football. However, his stint with the Horned Frogs didn’t get off to a great start, as a frustrating afternoon in Dublin had the college football world calling out Craig.

Craig completed 20 of 32 passes for 175 yards and no touchdowns in TCU’s disappointing 15-10 loss to North Carolina. The Horned Frogs scored all 10 of their points in the first quarter, lost a Craig fumble in the third, and failed on four of five fourth-down attempts as Bill Belichick’s defense repeatedly shut the door.

College Football World Tears Into Jaden Craig After TCU Debut

The criticism started after broadcasters discussed Craig’s résumé.

College football influencer Mikey O’ver unloaded in anX post: “It almost feels like these announcers have stock in Jaden Craig the way they keep talking about him,” adding that Craig was “playing like dog water.”

One fan was harsher inhis reply, calling Craig “the biggest piece of garbage quarterback I’ve seen in college football in the last 10 years” and “atrocious.”

CBS Sports’ Bud Elliott took issue with the television analysis rather than Craig alone. “Jordan Rodgers played quarterback in the NFL, and I did not, but he’s watching a different game from Jaden Craig than I am,” Elliott wrote ins his X post.

Another summed up Craig’s struggles with a scathing reaction post: “Jaden Craig should be flipping burgers. Holy garbage.”

CBS Sports’ Brad Crawford offered more measured context inhis post: “Jaden Craig only had two turnovers throughout the offseason handling first-team reps at QB for TCU. He lost fumble in this one and was careless there on third down.”

Craig averaged only 5.5 yards per attempt, was sacked three times, and did not throw for a single touchdown. His most damaging mistake came when Melkart Abou Jaoude stripped him on a third-quarter sack, setting up North Carolina’s final field goal.

TCU still had chances. Jeremy Payne rushed for 142 yards, and Craig later led a 15-play drive into the red zone. On fourth-and-2 from the UNC 10 with 4:05 remaining, however, Craig rolled out and threw incomplete toward Jeremy Scott, ending the Horned Frogs’ final possession.

The debut contrasted sharply with Craig’s Harvard résumé. He left Cambridge as the program’s career leader with 6,074 passing yards and 52 touchdowns, whilePFN ranked him No. 29 among FBS starting quarterbacks entering 2026.

One loss does not decide whether that production will translate to the Big 12. It did, however, turn Craig’s first Power Four start into immediate proof that the patience afforded an Ivy League record-holder disappears quickly when the touchdowns do.
