Seth Rogen details how he and his wife Lauren Miller have evolved in their 21-year relationship
“When we first started dating, I was really messy and she was really clean,” he tells PEOPLE
Rogen and Miller first met in 2005 and tied the knot six years later
Seth Rogen and his wife Lauren Miller are evolving together.
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE about his new movie The Invite, Rogen, 44, jokes that "everything changes" in a long-term relationship — even a couple's cleaning preference.
“I actually try to keep it very tidy. I think better in a clean environment,” he says of keeping his home cluster-free, in response to his character's line about feeling more inspired creatively in the chaos of his room.
“When I was younger, I was in a pretty disastrous space, but I actually think much better in a clean environment, whereas my wife, who is also a creative person, would, I feel like, live in abject squalor if it wasn't for someone kind of picking up after her,” the Emmy winner jokes.
Rogen notes that he and Miller, also 44, “kind of switched" their household standards, even after 21 years of being together.
“When we first started dating, I was really messy, and she was really clean, and then I don't know, over 20-something years, everything changes,” he says with a laugh.
Rogen and Miller first met through mutual friends in 2005. They tied the knot six years later in 2011.

Miller has appeared alongside Rogen in several movies, including Superbad and Zack and Miri Make a Porno.
She is also a filmmaker, having made her directorial debut with the 2018 drama-comedy Like Father, which she also wrote.

The couple are currently a producing duo on Tangles, an animated film that premiered at the Cannes Film Festival last month.
Last month, Rogen shared the secret to a healthy relationship in an interview with The New York Times.
"It's a couple who is nice to each other, who loves each other and who goes out of their way to excuse the other person rather than to find things that they hate about the other person,” he said.
The Invite, directed by Olivia Wilde with a script from Will McCormack and Rashida Jones, follows two couples at a dinner party when one offers a proposition that may reignite the spark in the other’s marriage, which is on the brink of collapse.

The Invite is now in theaters.
