Bindi Irwin missed the 3rd Annual Steve Irwin Gala to continue healing from her recent endometriosis-related surgeries.
But the conservationist was top of mind for brother Robert and mom Terri, who spoke about Bindi's health and hard work at the event.
This marks the second year in a row that Bindi has missed the annual fundraiser due to health reasons.
Bindi Irwin has the full support of her family as she continues to heal from an ongoing battle with endometriosis.
The Australian reality star, conservationist, and zookeeper is spending time away from the public eye amid her years-long battle with the chronic condition. Though fans were quick to notice her absence from the 3rd Annual Steve Irwin Gala on May 2, her brother Robert Irwin and mother Terri explained that Bindi is very much on the mend.
"Bindi is doing so much better now,” Terri told E! News in a joint interview with her son. "So, things like a lot of travel are a bit challenging for her at the moment and so she’ll be here next year to celebrate this wonderful night."
She added that since Bindi has recently gotten back to her wildlife conservation work, her daughter was at the event "in spirit."
Terri explained, "This year she’s just staying a little close to home. So, ironically, it’s less taxing for her to be home feeding crocodiles."

Chiming in, Robert pointed out that Bindi is doing critical work by staying home.
"You gotta remember [in] Australia Zoo ,there’s 500 in our team," he noted. "There’s about 500,000 acres of conservation land that we have. Someone’s got to hold down the fort. So, Bindi’s doing a great job at that."
Robert also argued that by keeping the work going, his sister and fellow Dancing With the Stars champ is honoring their father's memory — which is exactly what the Steve Irwin Gala sets out to do. The annual fundraising event celebrates the life and legacy of the Crocodile Hunter, raising funds for "Wildlife Warriors" to support global conservation efforts.
"Dad’s legacy’s never been more important because we all know there are big issues that face the planet,” Robert added. “Environmentally, we’ve kind of got a bit of an uphill battle right now in our generation. But it’s important not to lose sight of hope. There’s always hope if we can work together."

This marks the second year in a row that Bindi has missed the fundraising event, after suffering a medical emergency on the day of last year's gala.
She announced the news on social media, telling followers, "After many months of a grumbly appendix, I finally had to seek help the day of our Steve Irwin Gala/ After consulting with Dr. Seckin, we agreed that if I flew to New York, he could also check for endometriosis again. Surgery was a success."
She explained that in addition to having her appendix removed, she had another 14 lesions removed and a hernia repaired. She went on to thank her family for stepping up in her absence.

Bindi, who shares daughter Grace Warrior Irwin Powell with husband Chandler Powell, first opened up about her endometriosis diagnosis in 2023. The painful condition sees tissue that normally grows inside the uterus instead develop outside, per The Mayo Clinic, making it hard for the body to expel. Endometriosis can pose major problems to the uterus and ovaries, in addition to complicating menstruation and childbirth.

In March, Bindi detailed the "inescapable pain" of having 50 lesions “cut out” of her body over the past three years while being treated for the disease
"Trying to keep my invisible illness to myself after being told by doctors it was just ‘part of being a woman,'" Bindi wrote in a March 30 Instagram post, accompanied by photos of her in a hospital bed. "I spent 10 years being undiagnosed. As a teenager and young woman, I felt weak and deeply insecure. I was trapped in my own body.”
She added that if nothing else, she wanted to speak up on behalf of women struggling with the oft-misdiagnosed condition. "No one deserves to suffer in silence," she wrote, "If you’re in pain, my heart breaks for you. I believe you. Please find answers. And don’t give up on yourself. I know how hard that can be."
