FOXBOROUGH, Mass — "Fullbacks For Life"
That's the name of the fullback group chat that Reggie Gilliam is a part of, which includes iconic players, including Lorenzo Neal and Mike Alstott. And while it's incredible to have this connection to all the past and present fullbacks, there's one in particular that Gilliam reached out to the moment he saved his number.
"And it's a bunch of all the current fullbacks and all the legendary fullbacks like Mike Alstott and Lorenzo Neal and those guys. So it's pretty cool being in a group chat with those guys," he told reporters on Tuesday. "I actually texted Lorenzo on the side. Once I got his number saved, I was like, ‘Hey, you're my favorite fullback growing up. Like, I love watching you block for the LaDainian Tomlinson, that was my inspiration.’”
Gilliam said that there are roughly 40 players in the group chat, and it's so active that he even has to keep it muted on his phone.

Fullback is a unique position in the NFL, but Gilliam made sure to set the record straight when one reporter suggested that they are "on their way out."
“I disagree,” Gilliam chimed in before the reporter could finish his sentence. "They’re on the way back up.”
And now, he's ready to make his mark in the Patriots' offense.
