Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have quietly touched down in the United Kingdom, marking the end of their six-year stint stateside. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex made the low-key transatlantic move by private jet, landing in Birmingham alongside their two kids, seven-year-old Prince Archie and five-year-old Princess Lilibet, with little fanfare.
For the couple, who had made Montecito, California their home since stepping back from royal duties in 2020, the move is said to signal a permanent new chapter - one firmly rooted on British soil. The family have wasted no time in establishing themselves, moving into a private home thought to be situated in the picturesque Cotswolds countryside, approximately two hours from London.
In contrast to their former lives as working royals, Prince Harry and Meghan are reportedly pursuing a completely private lifestyle, with no intention of resuming any formal royal responsibilities.

While the Cotswolds will serve as their primary home for the time being, the couple are maintaining their California property along with their vacation home in Portugal.
Their pet dogs accompanied them on the move to the UK, while their chickens are remaining in Montecito under local care. The relocation has sparked renewed public interest in their personal security arrangements.
Since Harry was unsuccessful in his High Court challenge over taxpayer-funded police protection, questions remain about how their private security team will be structured and paid for.
The move has reportedly been motivated by Prince Harry's wish for his children to build a connection with their grandfather, King Charles III, particularly given the King's age and ongoing health issues. It was also thought that Harry intended to expand his public engagement with his long-standing UK charities.
However, following the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's recent return to the UK, The Times reported that Harry will take on a new title - and serve as the primary, "at-home" parent for Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

The description emerged from a guest appearance on rugby player Joe Marler's podcast, Joe Marler Will See You Now, where Harry characterized his main role as a "full-time dad" alongside "Prince of England".
In this new role, Harry is expected to handle the daily routine, including school drop-offs, making lunches, and attending school events.
This arrangement will allow Meghan to travel between the UK and California to manage her lifestyle brand and pursue potential media ventures. Those close to the Duke point out that he'll remain involved with his patronages, including the Invictus Games and WellChild, holding virtual meetings and face-to-face appointments while the children attend school.

The "stay-at-home dad" label has triggered a wave of criticism from royal watchers and social media users. Many critics argue that applying this term to a royal is insulting to everyday parents, stressing that Harry's domestic life is supported by an extensive staff of private security guards, nannies, housekeepers, chefs, and gardeners.
One person complained on X: "Staying at home dad'? You still have nannies, housekeepers, chefs and gardeners. The kids are at school until mid-afternoon. Watching Archie play rugby once a week does not make you a stay-at-home dad. That's not how it works, hun."
Another asked: "A stay at home dad? Did he ever work in America? I think not."
A third chimed in: "He hasn't worked since his kids were born so it's just a continuation!".
Despite the backlash, someone else said: "He can do what he likes, as long as we the tax payer don't pay for it."
While another observed: "Stay-at-home dad seems like a genuine family oriented priority as is the move in general by the looks of things."
Meghan is also said to be focusing on building her family while growing her lifestyle brand. Additionally, she is understood to be in early talks about new acting roles.
