FedEx has hired a previous AutoZone executive to serve as its new CFO.
The Memphis-based giant announced Oct. 26, the hiring of Jamere Jackson as its new executive vice president and chief financial officer, according to a news release. Jackson will start his new role Nov. 30 and will replace Claude Russ, who served as interim CFO since June 1.
Company officials tout Jackson’s expansive experience in leading the finance department at several public companies, including Memphis-based AutoZone. Jackson most recently led both finance and store development at AutoZone, serving as chief financial officer since January 2021.
Raj Subramaniam, president and CEO of FedEx, was excited about the appointment of Jackson.
“Jamere brings a deep understanding of how disciplined financial strategy translates into strong operational performance," Subramaniam said. "Throughout his career, he has proven his ability to balance strategic investments in growth with an unwavering focus on profitability, cash generation, and capital allocation. I am confident Jamere’s leadership will support FedEx’s strong momentum in driving profitable growth and help deliver long-term value for stockholders.”

“I also want to thank Claude for his leadership as interim CFO and for his contributions to FedEx during this transition,” Subramaniam added.
Before his tenure at AutoZone, Jackson served as executive vice president and chief financial officer of Hertz Global Holdings as well as chief financial officer of Nielsen Holdings. Jackson also served in several other leadership roles at General Electric, including chief financial officer of a division of GE Oil and Gas. He currently serves on the board of directors for Eli Lilly & Co., where he operates as chair of the audit committee.
“FedEx is a remarkable business with an extraordinary team and significant opportunity ahead,” Jackson said in a release. “I look forward to getting to know the company, learning from the world class finance team, and bringing my experience to bear as we execute our profitable growth strategy.”
