Nick Cannon is a father of 12. But so help him if any of his daughters are interested in dating.
Cannon shares twins Moroccan Scott Cannon and Monroe Cannon, 15, with ex-wife Mariah Carey, and he recently opened up to The TMZ Podcast about their dating lives.
"My son's been dating and I've allowed it," he said. "I've encouraged it." But when it comes to his daughter? He's pumping the brakes. "It's absolutely a double standard," he acknowledges.
"I know I get in trouble a lot because I say things with my chest," he continued. "But there is a difference when parenting a son and then when parenting a daughter." He spoke about wanting to protect his daughter from boys and men who might harm her.
"I know I get in trouble a lot because I say things with my chest," Nick Cannon recently told TMZ. "But there is a difference when parenting a son and then when parenting a daughter."
He offered a not-so-veiled threat in the process: "If some man puts his hands on my daughter, it's my worst nightmare because I'm going to jail forever."
That said, "if she can explain to me what's going to happen on these dates, then she can go," he said, adding that he's not comfortable with her going one-on-one dates.
"I'm preparing her for college, and I know it's out of my control," he continued. "I can't do nothing about it ... I know when you get to college, I want you to have all the questions answered and whatever and you make the best decisions possible. So, I know that's around the corner. I don't need anything to happen before that, like that scares me."

Cannon also recently went viral after giving insight into his political stance.
The entertainer made the remarks during the latest episode of his show "Nick Cannon's Big Drive," released March 27, where he spoke with model Amber Rose, who is also a staunch supporter of President Donald Trump.
"People don't know that the Democrats are the party of the KKK," Cannon, 45, said. "People don't know that the Republicans are the party that freed the slaves."
The claim that the Democratic Party is to blame for the creation of the Ku Klux Klan is misleading, and a trope against the current Democratic Party that has been circulating for years, as USA TODAY reported in 2020.
