Kamala Harris has urged Democrats to resist calls for impeaching Donald Trump if they regain control of the House of Representatives.

The former vice president shared her position during a Tuesday interview with MeidasTouch host Aaron Parnas.

Parnas asked Harris whether Democrats should pursue impeachment if they win control of Congress, and she responded with: “I think that going in the direction of impeachment is not a good idea, just to be honest with you.”

She argued that Democrats have limited time and resources and should focus on investigating the Trump administration rather than launch another impeachment effort that could end without meaningful consequences

Harris also pointed to her Senate experience during Trump’s previous impeachment trials. “You know, remember, I was in the Senate for the last go-round, and the votes aren’t there,” she said.

But she certainly did not urge Democrats to soften their opposition to Trump. Instead, she called for an uncompromising approach that prioritizes concrete results over another politically divisive fight.

“After the election, we all have to just also agree that our attitude has to be to get stuff done,” she said, adding that Democrats should not hesitate to challenge the administration.

She also cited the need to address Medicaid cuts and restore checks and balances amid concerns about a war. “And when I say we should be ruthless, I don’t mean cruel, but we should be uncompromising,” she explained. “Like, not sit around, you know, being genteel about the relationships and instead actually get stuff done.”

Harris’ remarks come after years of impeachment efforts against Trump. In December 2019, the Democratic-controlled House impeached Trump over his dealings with Ukraine.

In January 2021, the House impeached him again after his efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election. The Senate acquitted him in both cases.
