After Parton’s death, Musgraves expressed heartbreak online and shared a photo of them together on Instagram
Kacey Musgraves is honoring the late Dolly Parton.
On Friday, Aug. 28, Musgraves, 38, performed a rendition of the country music icon’s 1977 hit song “Here You Come Again” while on stage at TD Garden in Boston.
In a now-viral video shared on Instagram, the crowd can be heard singing along.
“Here you come again/ Just when I’d begun to get myself together,” Musgraves sings. “You waltz right in the door/ Just like you’ve done before/ And wrap my heart ‘round your little finger…”

The heartfelt tribute comes three days after Parton died on Tuesday, Aug. 25, at age 80.
A rep for the “Jolene” singer told PEOPLE that she died following a “brief battle with cancer.” The type of cancer was not disclosed.

Back in 2021, Musgraves told Rolling Stone that she “loves” Parton as a style and business icon. She expressed admiration for how the 9-to-5 star has defied expectations and embraced her femininity throughout the years.

“There will never be another Dolly,” the “Golden Hour” singer said.

After learning about Parton’s death on Tuesday, Musgraves wrote on X that the world had lost some of its sparkle.
“Dolly. 💔 This really really hurts,” she wrote, followed by, “The world feels a lot less sparkly all of a sudden.”
“So glad she’s with her Carl Dean. No one talk to me today,” Musgraves added.
The Grammy winner — who is scheduled to continue her Middle of Nowhere Tour at Madison Square Garden in New York on Sunday, Aug. 30 — later shared a photo of herself alongside Parton on Instagram, simply captioned, “🖤.”
