Last week, WalletHub released its list of the hardest-working states in the U.S. They were ranked based on 10 metrics grouped into two categories: Direct and indirect work factors with greater weight given to direct factors. Each state was graded on a 100-point scale with higher scores meaning harder-working states. How did Georgia perform?
Georgia is one of the hardest working states
Georgia landed in the No. 10 spot overall ranking 9th in direct work factors. According to a detailed breakdown WalletHub emailed, the Peach State also ranked 6th best in average commute time and 10th best in average workweek hours.
Georgia unemployment rate
Georgia's most recent recorded unemployment rate is 3.3%, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Georgia minimum wage
Technically, Georgia's official minimum wage is $5.15 per hour. However, with limited exceptions, the federal minimum wage of $7.25 supersedes that.
What is the hardest working state?
The state to land in No. 1 spot was South Dakota, ranking 2nd best in direct work factors, having the highest employment rate, and the 5th lowest share of "idle youth. Also, 6.5% of workers have multiple jobs.

What is the least hard working state?
Michigan landed at the bottom of the list with the worst-ranked direct work factors and the fifth lowest employment rate.
