College football is back … for a few teams, at least. Even with an eight-game slate on tap for Saturday, there is still plenty to look for as the season begins.

The day began with North Carolina outlasting TCU for a 15-10 win in Dublin, Ireland. There were just two touchdowns in the defensive affair and both came in the first half of a wet and sloppy opener. After a disappointing 4-8 campaign in Bill Belichick’s debut college football season a year ago, the Tar Heels will surely take a win any way they can get one.

NC State and Virginia will kick off the ACC season in Charlottesville while Florida State and USC start their seasons off as heavy favorites against New Mexico State and San Jose State, respectively.

Saturday's slate concludes as Memphis heads west to take on UNLV. Charles Huff will debut as the Tigers' new head coach after going 7-5 with Southern Miss last season. The Rebels are not only preseason favorites in the Mountain West, but also many analysts' choice to get the Group of Six College Football Playoff spot.
