Beyoncé wore a surprise second look by Robert Wun at the 2026 Met Gala following her appearance on the red carpet.

Earlier in the night, she arrived in a bejeweled Olivier Rousteing ensemble.

Exactly a decade had passed since Beyoncé last attended the Met Gala, until last night—and the singer made sure her comeback was well worth the wait. Following her red-carpet turn in a gilded Olivier Rousteing number, Beyoncé had another, just as on-theme fashion surprise in store.

Once inside the halls of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Beyoncé—who was a co-chair of the event alongside Venus Williams, Nicole Kidman, and Anna Wintour—changed into a dramatic Robert Wun dress. A custom creation inspired by Wun’s spring/summer 2026 collection, the fit-and-flare gown features golden faceted Swarovski crystals embroidered throughout and a sculptural skirt.

The detailing not only mimicked brushstrokes but also created a couture constellation of sorts. Wun dubbed it the “stargaze gown,” modeled after the view from a night plane over a coastal city. Styled by Ty Hunter, Beyoncé dramatized the look further with a crystallized veil and the same extra-long nails she wore on the red carpet.

Beyoncé began her night in grand style. She arrived towards the end of the red carpet event in a crystallized dress by Rousteing, complete with a skeletal trompe l’oeil fixture that turned her figure into a work of art. She wore a matching headpiece and an ombré cape that trailed behind her as she posed with Jay-Z and Blue Ivy Carter.

At the Met Gala, Beyoncé has worn almost exclusively Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci over the years—from that trademark naked dress to her most recent 2016 appearance in a latex gown. But her choices to wear both Rousteing and Wun last night were fitting.

Rousteing, who recently exited Balmain after 16 years at the helm, has been one of the star’s closest collaborators for decades—few, if anyone, could solicit a custom design under the designer’s own moniker. Wun, for his part, is one of the most exciting, conceptual designers in modern fashion.

It was a twofold answer to the Met Gala brief: a literal meditation on the body at the center of the “Costume Art” exhibit, and proof that “Fashion Is Art” itself.
