The Rooted collection is inspired by “the rise of slow living, homesteading, and food-forward rituals"
Other scents in the collection include Carrot & Nectarine and Morning Matcha
Bath & Body Works is getting in on the sourdough trend.
The retailer is releasing a Homemade Sourdough candle in their spring collection, Rooted, which launched March 13, according to a press release shared with PEOPLE.
Homemade Sourdough is “inspired by the viral baking renaissance” of the starter-based bread, per the release. The candle smells like “freshly baked sourdough, olive oil drizzle and whipped butter,” in a nod to home bakers sharing their “starter journeys” on the internet.
Per the release, the Homemade Sourdough scent is also “perhaps a wink to everyone’s favorite pop star baker,” apparently referencing Taylor Swift, who has shared her love for baking sourdough.
The Rooted collection “is inspired by the rise of slow living, homesteading, and food‑forward rituals,” according to the release.

Another collection item encapsulating current online trends is the Morning Matcha Gentle Foaming Hand Soap, which is meant to smell just like an iced strawberry matcha.
“Rooted taps into the cultural moment where everyday routines, from baking sourdough to making matcha, have become sources of comfort, creativity, and community,” the release said.
The collection will include new scents like Carrot Charm, based on carrot and nectarine scents, along with bringing back the Off the Vine tomato seasonal fragrance.

This isn’t the first time Bath & Body Works has made a food-scented candle.
During the retailer’s Annual Candle Day sale in December 2025, the store sold candles with “unexpected foodie fragrances like Coffee & Donuts, Chips & Salsa, Pizza & Ranch and Popcorn & Slushie,” per a press release.
The product pages on the retailer’s website highlighted that the Chips & Salsa candle had scents of “bottomless tortilla chips and fresh salsa” to evoke the experience of grabbing a Taco Tuesday meal “at your favorite Mexican restaurant.”
Pizza & Ranch, on the other hand, was designed to smelled like “gooey cheese, crispy pepperonis and ranch."
Passionate customers seemed divided over the scents, sharing their reviews in the comments section of a Bath & Body Works Instagram post.
One wrote that “the ranch and pizza candle almost made me throw up lol,” and another said, “the pickle one too and chips and salsa smell like feet🤢.”
A fan of the unique candles said, “yes I did buy the pickle, chips and salsa. And yes I do like them. I love food, what can I say😁.”
Candles and body care items in the Rooted collection are available starting March 13, and soaps and home decor for the collection are available on March 23.
